Qi is the spiritual force in one's body that allows them to perform extraordinary, almost supernatural feats. If one were able to properly harness it, they could turn the tides of a fight in their favor, or take control of the very elements themselves. However, few seem to be capable of utilizing it, as most seem to lack knowledge of how to tap into it, even fewer are aware of the existence of Qi.
To obtain a Qi, characters must do all of the following:
- Reach the rank of Accustomed (300 posts).
- PM a staff member with the Qi you would like to have.
- Pass a GM-run trial
The type of Qi you would like determines what sort of trial you will have to face. Complete the trial, and the Qi is yours. Fail, and you must attempt a different trial.
The strength of your Qi, and how long you can maintain it, is based solely on your Spirit stat. The higher the Spirit, the stronger the Qi. Also, higher Spirit means better defense against someone else's Qi. Certain items can be obtained to boost your Qi potency and area of range. These items are not purchasable.
Even after obtaining your Qi though, you are encouraged and expected to post training threads, showing your character learning to control their Qi better. Be logical, no one is a genius like Kazuo Kiriyama from Battle Royale, your character is not going to be a master at using their Qi right off the bat.
What Your Qi CAN Do:
- Elemental Control: Earth, Wind, Fire, etc. All of these can be manipulated by Qi, but you can only pick one.
- Harnessing Light and Darkness: These can be controlled as well, but only one or the other, not both.
- Enhanced Senses: Your character can drastically enhance their senses. This includes even seeing through walls or in the dark.
- BE CREATIVE: The only limit is your imagination.
- Stat Boosts: Your Qi may increase your stats, but keep it mind, it is not the main purpose of your Qi, and any damage or increases, must be base Spirit stat only, and can only be added to the base stat of a different category.
What Your Qi CANNOT Do:
- Same Element Type Attacks: If someone ends up using the same element of another person, they are not allowed to use the same type of attack as that person. We understand that this limits what you can do with elements, but if you have a power like fire or wind why don't you simply have your character use a different color or form of that element. Blue flames are one example of something you could do to make your power different from someone else's.
Exceptions: All the gang leaders making up The Big Five are expected to have a Qi. They are staff run, and as such, it is to be assumed that any you meet can and will have a Qi. Any transfer characters from specific past XIN boards, such as Public High School #259, that have already obtained a Qi, are exempted as well, as they had already earned the ability to use a Qi.
