The Grave of Venus
Name: Addie Balfour
Gang: none
Ethnicity: Japanese/German
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Height: 5"10
Weight: 140lbs
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: brown
Appearance:
Standing at 5'10, Addie is taller than the average girl, or so she's been told. She has thin brows, an unlined forehead, a small, straight nose, and the sides of her face curve gently. Close under her right eye, there is a beauty mark. She's slender and has a flat stomach, although her chest is about average sized. Her upper body isn't very muscular, her legs have some muscle build going on. Her hair reaches the bridge of her nose in the front, and in the back it reaches down her back a little past her shoulder blades. It is usually seen in a braid and over her shoulder.
As for clothing, Addie tends to wear her own creations and a mix of accessories. The shirts tend to have thin straps, puffy shoulders, and a ribbon on the front. It's a reoccurring pattern with Addie. As well as the colours, most of her clothes have five basic colours: Red, white, black, green, and blue. The shorts end up being short, the pants black, and the skirts are small. Why? All the better to move in, well in her opinion at least. She'll never really wear anything that wasn't made by her, unless by force. Accessories not included in the never wearing, since she is far too lazy to make her own...for the most part.
Personality: Addie still has that confident air about her, she has no reason to doubt her self in most ways. She always has that warm and loving part of herself. She is very tender and motherly towards everyone. She is generally concerned for the well being of those around her and will always go the distance for those she cares about. She is spacey for the most part, usually off in her own little world ignoring the important issues going on around her. When it comes right down to it, she can be serious and determined. She's a very cheerful and easy to approach person.
History:
Born in Germany into a German Japanese family, her mother's name was Evangeline Balfour where as her father was Yuuto Watanabe. Eva was a stay at home mom and spent many afternoon's next door with the Hayner's; both families were quite close. Where as the father was a busy man, he worked in some company that never seemed important enough for Addie to remember. She was young back then. During those days she'd spend all her time wandering and exploring the area in and around their little rural town, which is where her love of wandering came from. But when not in school, or wandering, say on a rainy day! Admir Hayner [the next door neighbor's son] who was usually always around Addie, so it was no change from their wanderings, but they'd spend the day in the Balfour's kitchen. You see, Eva Balfour was an amazing cook and her baking skills seemed to be unmatched by anyone! Well, as a child, your mother's food and baking is always best, right? Things were good! Why wouldn't they be? School, fun, friends, good food, happy times for all!
Though all good things eventually have to end, it all began with simple arguments that seemed to span over a few months. Her mother's emotions seemed to sporadically change, it seemed to be more calm when she stayed at home. When guests came to visit or when they were in public, Eva seemed to emotionally break down. There was no explanation that Yuuto could accept, but Eva begged for him to believe her. The fights became more frequent, which led to Addie staying with Admir's family more often than not.
She had been hearing more and more about the divorce, and soon the day of the finalization was there. It was the day before her Birthday when things were finalized, it was decided that she'd be going with Watanabe. At the time Addie didn't know that that meant leaving Germany, Admir, and her mother, but it still troubled her a great deal. The girl was in the Hayner residence watching a movie with Admir while waiting for lunch when she got the news, the news of who won the war of custody. It was her father, Mrs. Hayner kind of expected as much since Eva didn't really have a job. It was probably a really hard thing to explain to an eleven year old, to tell the girl that she'd be leaving everyone important behind; and that she had no say in the matter. But worst yet, she was leaving on her birthday to go to Japan, why? Because her father's job would begin two days later, it seemed he really pushed that. Ruining a little girl's life, taking her away from her mother, best friend, and the beauty of the little rural town. For what? Watanabe got a high paying job from an old university friend, which just kind of sealed the deal with the child custody; the one with the money gets the kid.
The day Addie and Yuuto were to leave was stained with tears. She didn't want to leave her mother or the wonderful Hayners behind. Plus, the town had so many places she couldn't explore until she grew up a little more. No matter how much she asked, Yuuto wouldn't let her stay. He seemed to grow tired of explaining himself to her, instead he shut her out. Why talk to someone who won't listen? After he left the house carrying suitcases with Addie trailing behind him, Yuuto didn't say another word. He didn't even look at her.
Their exit was stopped by Mrs. Hayner and Admir. They had to say good by to the girl. Plus! They had going away gifts. There was a photo album full from front to back with photos from birthdays, events and everything. A letter that simply read: “Don't you forget me.” As well as a gold Bracelet. In tiny text that wrapped around the band the bracelet read: The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart. On the inside of the band it had her name and Admir's engraved.
He didn't speak to her until he was hurrying her out into the airport parking lot in Tokyo. It was from there that they went to say with his parents. Itou and Kaori did not take to the fact that he brought the child with him. They had hoped that he would leave the troublesome girl in Germany, sadly he did not. They never did let her feel welcomed or loved.
As hard of a time that Yuuto was having dealing with the divorce, he couldn't tolerate that they were being so rude to his daughter. He loved her, he just couldn't look at her or deal with her. She was growing up and starting to look like her mother. His fear was that she would end up being like Evangeline. He didn't want what had snapped in Eva to be what drives his child mad. He wanted Addie to be normal.. Normal.
Addie's mother's Surname was Balfour, which was the name that she kept. She loved her father, but she wanted to hold on to a bit of her mum. Her father's surname was Watanabe. So Yuuto Watanabe was a little hurt by the fact that Addie did not wish to share his last name, even though by court rule it was indeed Watanabe; she'd just never formally introduce herself that way and eventually when she got into school and was able to fill out most of her own paper work, she'd write is as Balfour.
Addie was enrolled in a school by the president of the company that hired her father, though to her discontent it wasn't exactly a warm feeling school. Especially since she didn't really fit in with people because she looked different and because of her social status. Her family wasn't rich, it was a broken family, and Addie's father had obtained the job because he was an old friend of the president. All of those factors lead to Addie being picked on by her classmates. At first she just ignored it, but in the letters Admir suggested standing up for herself. Well, he said that and that he'd go over there and fix things. But of course standing up for herself only seemed to make things worse. Being picked on by people is never fun especially when its all day in school, eventually anyone would lose their temper and fight back.
Addie had grown tired of the people in the school, fighting back verbally never seemed to work and she couldn't figure out why she even bothered. Addie started to change, she buried herself in her school work and caved into herself. She didn't even write back to Admir anymore. It was all okay... Until they decided to start messing with her school work, that was the line. Addie worked hard so she could get away, maybe go to some high school full of people like her or something. Words turned to violence, Addie just took it. Odd things slowly started happening. Odd things. Odd things happened to her mom too. Addie was so confused and lost. There was no one she could talk to, writing Admir didn't seem right. He was so far away and it wasn't right to drag him into her own turmoil.
She could fight back... if she really wanted.
It's a quick step and a steep drop when you decide to raise a fist back against those who torment you.
Living and supporting Addie and himself, Yuuto worked a lot. Although, avoiding his child seemed like the reason behind all his long shifts. He was never really home... So, Addie had a small apartment to take care of, it was kind of lonely, but was was not without her comrade. To fill the void of silence, that was once occupied by the chatter of happy friends and family, she turned to music. It slowly took over her life, without it she'd probably become rather violent without restraint. Music was her escape from people, from their words, their harsh actions, and her own thinking. But anyways! Starting to fight back against the people who always seemed to be attacking her to say the least, Addie started to skip classes, she got into trouble for fighting on school grounds; which really didn't make her father happy at all. Even if she wasn't the one doing the fighting.
Sadly, the man never had time to deal with it properly, disciplining the girl didn't work, grounding her didn't work either [she never really left the house, unless to go shopping for food, to go to the sewing store or things like that... no outings with friends]. The guy was stuck and no one seemed to know why she was being such a trouble maker, after all no one ever bothered to ask. He never even noticed the bruises, cuts, or scrapes.
When the German-Japanese girl did decide to show for class, it was because her father would drive her or someone else from the company would pick her up. But anyways! When it happened, it was just one of those days, it was hot, the uniform was unbearable, the people were annoying. Addie had been out in the courtyard during the lunch break, listening to her music. Someone was stupid enough to to take her MP3 player, insult her family, comment on her looks, or even mess with her school work. Cause even though she didn't show to class, she never stopped doing the work. She wanted an escape. But with the music gone, Addie couldn't hold herself back; she was so very angry. After all, if anyone mentions her family state and various other things that are not worth mentioning, it would make someone mad right? It wasn't the other person's business, now was it? Well of course it drove Addie a little over the edge, which is how she ended up in St. Paragon's Secondary School. Fighting to put it by government record.
To be honest... No one really could explain what had happened. There was only one survivor from the entire ordeal. The girl described it as: The earth opened up and swallowed people. It spiked up without a care and pierced anything in it's way. The ground shook and split, hitting the people in the area with large masses of earth. Crushing them.
At the moment of the attack it was said that the area had experienced an earthquake. Addie couldn't even explain what happened. She remembered being angry, wanting to strike someone back but then the earth started to move. The rest was a blur.
Addie was marked a killer.
She had no idea what had happened. When she had snapped out of it, she stood in the pool of her peer's blood. The police, ambulance, and fire fighting forces had assembled and someone was asking for her father's number.
Instead of Prison. Addie was moved to PHS 650.
Public High School 650:
Addie didn't really spend a lot of time at 650, she had gotten there only a few short weeks of the attack from the paladin. But of course, nothing really interesting happened, just the same stuff a different hole in the ground. Well, she did manage to meet once nice person.. who she couldn't quite see but knew was there. Also some other person, he was an okay guy; but she hadn't seen him since. Addie had attended St. Paragon's up until the attack, where she had joined those hiding in the AI core room. On the Day of the battle Addie had been sleeping, only to awaken to loud noises, of course she did the first thing she could think of. She hide, rushing to the AI core room, well she had not intended to go to that room, it was just the first and most safe looking. She did not wish to get involved with a battle after all, since she probably wouldn't be able to defend herself well. The battle ended with great amounts of casualties for the both school and the attackers, but she and the other students hiding in the AI room were saved. Once again the girl was faced with the question whether or not to be sent to prison or attend a special school.
Point Hope High:
It was cold.. But there were people, which meant that she'd have to interact with him; which didn't sound fun at all. But sadly, she didn't get to be a cold jerk; for the most part they seemed okay to her! But sadly, she didn't really talk to them much, well not sadly! Oh well, their loss right? Point hope managed to turn her attendance around, she'd go to class and once in a while talk to people; she still did all her homework. High school, you meet people, are ignored, you are hated, you a liked, you are forgotten about, you love. She did them all, well kind of. But during her stay at Point Hope, she met a very nice young man, admitted to liking him and received his feelings in return. Though, it was time for a change, she had to go. A fresh start without an angry mind would be a wonderful thing, plus it would give Addie a change to travel just a little. Something she always wanted to do, but knew to well it wasn't possible. Though, the girl couldn't help but hope she'd run into him again; hopefully she'd not have been forgotten.
Public High School #259:
Addie arrived in Long Beach a little before the mass transfer, she never attended any classes, so she stopped going to school for a year. Working in order to pay for her apartment, she'd work until reenrolling in school in September. Where of course, she'd meet up with everyone once again. Although, she'd volunteer and continue to work, she needed to do something in her free time. Becoming a nice person over time, smiling and helping people willingly. Addie had become a different person, free from her past.
Although with school came the troubles seen through the public high school system, violence and drama. Fights and trouble from around. After all the time spent observing the school, and those around her, she came to the conclusion... She wanted to become stronger! In order to help those she called friends, or even those around her, those who couldn't stand up for themselves. She wanted to help those who were weak and the people she cared about. A silly wish from a girl who knew nothing. The inner workings of the school, the people and their lives, what had happened and what they did... She didn't care. Everyone needs someone to look out for them, even if they stand on top.
Growing to help those around her.
Soon enough it was time for college. She had spent months wandering the country and looking for something. It was time to enter college. So, she started out at college for the culinary arts. Deciding to stay in the states of course.
